Build-Your-Own-Sentinel
Prelude โ Pets, and the one you buildโ
Resonance has two kinds of companion, and they sit at opposite ends of the same idea.
The everyday kind are Pets from the Geneticist โ you pair, hatch, and collect them, and each one carries a small always-on passive (a boost to one of your stats or systems). They're a broad, casual collection: feed them to grow them, mix and match the passives you want, and they quietly make everything else a little better. Start there โ the Geneticist is where most players meet the pet system.
The Sentinel on this page is the other end: not a passive you collect, but a companion you actively build and fight with. Where a Geneticist pet buffs you from the sidelines, a Sentinel walks onto your Roster as a full Avatar and takes turns in battle. Think of it as the endgame pet โ the one you earn your way to in the Sonentius Aftermath and grow one level at a time.
In one line: Geneticist pets are the collection you keep; the Sentinel is the companion you build.
What a Sentinel isโ
A Sentinel is a custom Avatar you build yourself โ the "pet sentinel" that lands right on your Roster and fights alongside your other fighters. It has the same four stats (Health / Attack / Defense / Speed), a class, and a role as any Avatar, and it plays exactly like one in the Journey and Arena. The difference is how you make it: instead of forging with Essence, you build a Sentinel out of Sonentius Alloy.
You get one Sentinel. Once forged it's yours to grow.
Sentinels are one leg of the Sonentius Aftermath, the endgame phase of the Sonentius event world (see the Aftermath page for the Concord ladder, Dissonant Cores, and the Dissonant Front). Building one is gated on two things:
- Your community's Sonentius Ground Base has entered the Aftermath (the pact struck at Comms Tower Lv 5), and
- You personally have cleared the Sonentius Chapter 4 capstone โ the Aspect fight (
sonentius-c4-n09).
Until both are true, the Sentinel surface stays closed (the Pets panel shows its empty state). It's also rolling out operator-first, so it may be dogfooded on the operator account before it opens for everyone. If you don't see it yet, you either haven't cleared the Aspect or the feature hasn't opened for your account.
The loop โ one noun, one number, one choiceโ
The whole system is deliberately simple:
Farm Sonentius Chapter 4 โ earn Shards โ synthesize Alloy โ forge & level your Sentinel
- One noun: Alloy โ the currency a Sentinel is built from.
- One number: your Sentinel's level (1 up to 8).
- One choice: synthesize Alloy, then spend it to forge or level up.
There are no parts to manage, no loadout, no separate refine track โ you grow the whole Sentinel one level at a time.
Step 1 โ Earn Sentinel Shardsโ
Sentinel Shards are the key ingredient, and they drop from Sonentius Chapter 4 clears (the Aftermath farming ground). Shards are deliberately generous so Chapter 4 stays the place you go for them:
- The apex node (
sonentius-c4-n09, the Aspect) grants 2 Shards a clear; every other Chapter 4 node grants 1. - Pushing pays: you earn +1 Shard per 15 levels of Dissonance on the run.
- A repeat run multiplies by the number of runs, up to a cap of 12 Shards per clear.
Step 2 โ Synthesize Alloyโ
Sentinel Alloy is a per-account balance you cook into existence. In the Kitchen you assemble a basket of Sonentius materials โ plus your Shards โ and run the Alloy synthesis cook (it costs no RSNC). The basket credits Alloy by rarity: rarer mats are worth more, and Sentinel Shards are the "pillar" โ worth a hefty 100 Alloy each, and every synthesis needs at least one Shard. That's what ties Alloy income back to Chapter 4 farming.
The app shows your projected Alloy before you cook, so you always see what a basket is worth.
Step 3 โ Forge your Sentinelโ
Spend 1,000 Alloy to forge your one Sentinel. This is deliberately cheap so anyone who's reached the Aftermath can start. Forging mints the Sentinel straight onto your Roster at level 1, as a full Avatar with a class, a role, and its four stats โ ready to field immediately.
Step 4 โ Level it upโ
After forging, each level-up costs level ร 10,000 Alloy โ ten times the forge unit, so the entry stays cheap but the climb is a real Alloy grind (one cook shouldn't max a Sentinel). A Sentinel grows to a maximum level 8, and its Power (its total stat budget) is 250 + 90 ร level, spread across HP / ATK / DEF / Speed by the same class/role curve every Avatar uses.
| Level | Alloy for this step | Power at this level |
|---|---|---|
| 1 (forge) | 1,000 | 340 |
| 2 | 20,000 | 430 |
| 3 | 30,000 | 520 |
| 4 | 40,000 | 610 |
| 5 | 50,000 | 700 |
| 6 | 60,000 | 790 |
| 7 | 70,000 | 880 |
| 8 (max) | 80,000 | 970 |
Building all the way from nothing to a maxed level-8 Sentinel costs 351,000 Alloy in total โ so leveling is where the bulk of your Chapter 4 farming goes. At 100 Alloy per Shard, that's a long, deliberate grind, not a one-session sprint.
Alloy costs and Power are computed the same way on the backend and in the Pets build panel, so the number you see before you spend is the number you pay. Check the panel for the exact next-level cost for your Sentinel.
Once it's builtโ
A Sentinel is a normal Roster Avatar from here on โ gear it, field it in the Journey and Arena, and slot it into your teams like any other fighter. Its power comes from its level (Alloy), not from Essence upgrades or Ascension.
